Kafui is an Associate Professor of Anatomic pathology and a pathologist at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. He was awarded MBChB in 2004 (KNUST) and had his postgraduate professional training at the West African College of Physicians (WACP) and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS) from 2007-2013. His postgraduate thesis was on the histopathological characterization of ovarian tumours, and after successfully passing his examination was awarded the Fellowship (FWACP), in Laboratory Medicine (Anatomic pathology) in October 2013. He is also a member of the faculty of laboratory medicine of the Ghana College of Physicians (MGCP) having passed his membership examination in 2012. He did his cytopathology training at the Institute of Allergie Medicine, at the Technical University of Munich’s, Klinikum Reichts der Isar in Munich Germany. He was trained in forensic human identification (forensic anthropology) by the Argentine forensic anthropology society at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa.
He is a member of the West African Division of the International Academy of Pathologists (WADIAP), the International Society of Gynaecological Pathologists (ISGyP) and the International Academy of Pathologists (IAP). Locally, he is the secretary of the faculty of laboratory medicine West African College of Physicians, president of the Society of Laboratory Physicians Ghana (SLPG) and a member of the Breast Society of Ghana (BSOG).
As a pathologist, he is passionate about modernizing pathology practice in Ghana to better understand the molecular pathology of cancers that afflict African and people of African descent. Through that he hopes the prognosis of cancer patients in Ghana will be improved. He is also interested in the prevention and early detection of cancer. He has many publications in peer reviewed journals and two book published in 2015 and 2022. He is registered with the Medical and Dental Council (MDC), with date of full registration 2007 and additional qualification registered as specialist pathologist in 2011.
